How to Export Your Workspace Data on Slack

Last updated: June 17, 2025

You can export data from your Slack workspace or Enterprise organization.

Step 1: Notify Greenboard

Please email [email protected] to let us know you'll be sending data exports. If helpful, we’re happy to schedule time with you to assist with the initial setup and walk you through the periodic upload process outlined in step 3.

Step 2: Export data

Org Owners can contact the Slack Support team to request a data export for the following 3 options:

  • Option 1: Custom data export
Choose which data to export by conversation type, member, or for a specific workspace, in either JSON or text file format.

  • Option 2: All channels and conversations
For legal and regulatory compliance, export messages and file links from public channels, private channels, and DMs in JSON format.

  • Option 3: Channel audit
Export a CSV list of channels and their details for migration planning or other workspace management needs.
