Greenboard - SAML SSO Setup Instructions

Last updated: May 28, 2025

Overview

This setup process establishes a SAML connection between your organization's Identity Provider and Greenboard's authentication system. Once configured, your users will be able to sign into Greenboard using their existing corporate credentials through Single Sign-On (SSO), eliminating the need for separate Greenboard passwords and streamlining the login experience. The process involves exchanging technical configuration details between your IT team and Greenboard to establish a secure, trusted connection.

If you have additional questions about this setup process, please reach out to your onboarding partner or contact [email protected] for assistance.

Step 1: Collect the following information from your SAML Identity Provider:

Sign In URL (SSO URL): Format will typically look like this: https://idp.example.com/saml/sso

X509 Signing Certificate: This should be in PEM format (Base64 encoded). Copy the entire certificate including the -----BEGIN CERTIFICATE----- and -----END CERTIFICATE-----  headers

Sign Out URL: Format will typically look like this: https://idp.example.com/saml/slo

Step 2: Provide this information to Greenboard

Your Greenboard onboarding partner will provide you with a secure upload URL. Upload the information from Step 1 to this URL. Confirm with your onboarding partner once this is complete.

Step 3: Greenboard to provide Authentication Metadata, for your IT team to complete the setup process:

Entity ID: The unique identifier that Greenboard’s authentication system uses to identify itself to the SAML Identity Provider (IdP). Also known as Issuer or Audience.

Assertion Consumer Service (ACS) URL: The endpoint where the Identity Provider (IdP) sends the SAML response after a user successfully authenticates.

Metadata URL: A URL that serves an XML document containing all the technical details about Greenboard’s authentication system as a Service Provider.

Once this step is completed, please confirm completion with your Greenboard onboarding partner.

Step 4: Greenboard to Confirm SAML Connectivity

The Greenboard team will complete final validations of the SAML SSO connection and confirm that the connection is ready for use.
